The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a catchy little tune that will have you humming mid-afternoon poker news hits all day long.
You can you always make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at some great news for online poker in New York, David Williams giving a MasterChef recap and Phil Hellmuth plays above the rim.
1) CrazyMarco Channels Chip
Chip Reese has been gone for awhile now but he continues to have an impact on the poker world.
Last night Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson took down his second gold bracelet in the $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. event for $259,730.
In the winner’s interview Johnson revealed that he started playing H.O.R.S.E. because of Reese:
“I started playing H.O.R.S.E. seven years ago because I grew up next to Chip Reese’s sister, and H.O.R.S.E. was always his game. I decided I wanted to be really good at this, so that’s where I focused my energy….this feels good to win a bracelet in a mixed event, for sure.”
Reese was famous for playing mix games and won the inaugural $50,000 HORSE Championship for $1.7m in 2006.
Nice to see his spirit lives on at the WSOP.
2) David Williams Blogs MasterChef Experience
The third episode of MasterChef airs tonight with poker pro David Williams getting a chance to cook for legendary chef Wolfgang Puck.
In the meantime though Williams took to Facebook to give fans an inside scoop on what it’s actually like to appear on the show and what goes on behind the scenes.
It’s a good read if you’re a fan of the show or David Williams in general. You can read the full blog here but here's an excerpt:
I thought I would be nervous; and walking into the MasterChef kitchen for the first time was terrifying but once the clock started all the nerves went away. I attribute that to the experience I’ve gained from being at televised poker final tables over the past 12 years. I was happy to be cooking pork. It’s my favorite protein and I pride myself on being able to cook pork to perfection...
3) Phil Hellmuth is “Above the Rim”
So Phil Hellmuth Tweeted that he played FAR above the rim yesterday in the $10k Seven-Card Stud event.
What does that look like? We’re thinking a little bit like this:
