In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Shaun Deeb winning his second WSOP bracelet, Jason Mercier going all-out and a sudden downpour in Las Vegas.
1) Deeb Crushes Stud FT
Online MTT master Shaun Deeb picked up his second WSOP bracelet in $1,500 Seven-Card Stud event last night.
Deeb dominated the final table, which included heavyweights Max Pescatori, Eugene Katchalov and John Monette. That final table played out in rapid-fire fashion for a Stud event.
The Troy, NY, native was humble in victory and claimed anyone could have won the tournament with the run of cards he had.
With the win Deeb moved to $2.2m in lifetime live tournament earnings. Of course his live earnings are dwarfed by his monstrous online record that includes over $6.3 million in earnings and eight COOP titles.
Deeb already had five cashes in this year’s WSOP but it doesn’t appear that he will be chasing any POY honors as he’s already on his way back to Florida to be with his wife and family.
2) Mercier Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Jason Mercier just about had chips in three separate events at the end of play last night.
He was deep in the $3k NLHE, $10k PLO and the $1,500 PLO/Omaha-8.
Let that sink in for a minute.
This is a man who clearly has his sights set on his third bracelet of the summer and untold riches in prop bets.
It didn’t work out and he only survived in the $3k NLHE but you’ve got to respect the ambition. It harkens back to Tom Dwan playing literally every tournament he could to try and cash in on the massive bets he had against seemingly everyone in the poker world.
Of course the WSOP is far past the mid-way point so it might come down to the wire for Mercier. Should be a fun.
3) Flood Hits Vegas, WSOP Unaffected
When it rains, it pours. That’s absolutely true of normally arid Las Vegas.
For the second straight year flooding threatened to delay events at the WSOP. It didn’t end up happening this time around as the flooding hit areas slightly further away from The Rio but it did get really wet.
Check out the carnage on Twitter below. Also, amazing investigative work by the GPL’s Joe Stapleton to confirm that it was, indeed, raining in Las Vegas.
