Doyle Brunson Allegedly Targeted in Robbery

One of Doyle Brunson’s neighbors was apparently robbed this weekend but the iconic poker pro may have been the actual target.

The 10-time bracelet winner was told by a police officer a robbery took place a few houses away from his own residence.

The victim was caught in his garage and told by the culprit that he knew he was a professional poker player. The robber also said that his cut was supposed to be $700,000.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal the robbery was reported at 8:56 a.m. on Friday.

Brunson: “I’m Not Getting Robbed Again”

Not his first rodeo.

Doyle Brunson was no stranger to the occasionally stick up back in the day.

Brunson famously traveled the underground poker circuit with Sailor Roberts and Amarillo Slim back when most high-stakes games were considerably more dangerously.

The Texas native didn’t sound too concerned about the Vegas robbery as he has numerous security systems in place at his residence.

Most of the time poker pros also keep the majority of their cash at the casinos where they play.

The story isn’t unique, however, as several high-profile poker pros have been robbed over the last 10 years.

Theo Jorgensen, Jonathan Duhamel, David Sklansky and Greg Raymer have all been the target of criminals.

Here were Brunson’s thoughts on the robbery via Twitter:

all of my life and am not going to be robbed again. 5 times in my life is enough! So any aspirations of trying had better be reconsidered!!!

The robber got about $500 from his victim and said he was going to kill his informants for giving him the wrong house.
